Background & Experience

Anna Szterenfeld is a multilingual writer and editor with 30 years of experience assessing and forecasting global political and economic risk, policy trends and business operating conditions, with a particular focus on the Americas. For many years she served as Regional Manager and Latin America Editor with The Economist Group, where she supervised analysts and editorial teams in Mexico, Brazil, London, and Gurgaon (India), as well as a contributor network in more than 20 countries. She has managed and contributed to online intelligence services, subscription publications, and proprietary and sponsored client research for corporate, government and non-governmental clients.

Besides political and economic risk, her research areas have included diverse topics such as sovereign credit risk, intellectual property licensing, e-commerce and strategic alliances, doing business in Mexico and Cuba, free-trade agreements in the Americas, citizen security and electricity sector reform, among others. Ms. Szterenfeld is also a regular public speaker at high-level conferences, including with heads of state and government ministers.

Ms. Szterenfeld currently serves on the board of Zumma, a consultancy focused on the energy sector and government policy in Mexico City. She has a Bachelor’s degree in foreign languages and Latin American history from the City University of New York and an interdisciplinary Master’s degree in Latin American Studies from New York University. She is fluent in Spanish and is proficient in Portuguese, French and Polish.
