A Guide for Women in Cybersecurity
According to Cybersecurity Guide, there is a nation-wide shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals (some research puts the number at 3.5 million unfilled cybersecurity-related jobs by 2021).
One way to meet this demand is to make sure that the cybersecurity workforce is diverse and inclusive. To that end, the industry has made great progress in hiring more women. In fact, in 2011, women made up 11 percent of the cybersecurity workforce. Today, women make up 24 percent of cybersecurity workers globally. But there is still work to be done to reach parity and a true sense of inclusion.
That is why they developed A Guide for Women in Cybersecurity. Among topics this guide covers:
- Why women have historically been underrepresented in the cybersecurity field
- What can be done to create gender parity in the cybersecurity industry
- Specific programs for women interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity
- How things are changing for women in cybersecurity, especially for the earning power of millennials
- Scholarship opportunities for women pursuing studies in cybersecurity
